# Frontend

> The web interface of Home Assistant, built with Lit and TypeScript, in the home-assistant/frontend repository.

- In code: `home-assistant/frontend`, `src/`

The frontend is everything users see in their browser: dashboards, the settings, the automation editor, and every dialog. The [companion apps](https://contributors.home-assistant.io/glossary/companion-app/) show the same frontend.

It talks to Home Assistant Core over a WebSocket connection.
