- In code: `cloud`
- Formerly: Home Assistant Cloud (old name: don't use it in new text)

[Nabu Casa](https://contributors.home-assistant.io/glossary/nabu-casa/) runs Home Assistant Link, and the majority of the profits from subscriptions fund the [Open Home Foundation](https://contributors.home-assistant.io/glossary/open-home-foundation/). Home Assistant works without it: Link adds extras, like reaching your home from anywhere, connecting Alexa and Google Assistant without setting that up yourself, faster speech-to-text for Assist, and a place to store a backup online.

It was called Home Assistant Cloud until October 2026. In Core, the `cloud` integration connects to it, and the UI and the integration still use the old name in places. In text, say Home Assistant Link.
