- In code: `OpenHomeFoundation/roadmap`
- Also: opportunities, roadmap opportunity, roadmap opportunities, roadmap item

An opportunity starts from a problem: who has it, why it matters, and which feature requests or other community signals point to it. As it gets shaped, it gains a scope, a foreseen solution, open questions, and an appetite: a rough idea of how much time it is worth. Once work starts, one or more [epics](https://contributors.home-assistant.io/glossary/epic/) hang below it, often one for each phase.

Only foundation staff and authorized contributors create opportunities, but anyone can comment on them. See [from idea to release](https://contributors.home-assistant.io/roadmap/how-it-works/).
