Update
The more-info view of an update entity, with the versions, the release notes, and buttons to skip or install.
An update is something to read before you act, so this view is a short page, not a control. It doesn't have the newer design with a large state. It starts with the state row, like Update available or Up-to-date, and the dialog uses the full height of the screen, to leave room for the release notes.
From top to bottom:
- Title: the name of what gets updated, like Home Assistant Core.
- Versions: the installed version and the latest version.
- Release announcement: a link, when the update has one.
- Release notes: the full notes, when the integration can provide them. Otherwise, a short release summary, when there is one.
- Backup: for updates that support it, an option to create a backup before updating.
- Actions: Skip and Update at the bottom.
The Home Assistant Core update has a new version, with release notes. The desk plug firmware is up to date, so Skip and Update are disabled.
- While an update installs, a progress bar shows above the title. It fills up when the integration reports the progress, and moves back and forth when it doesn't.
- Skip turns into Clear skipped when you skipped a version and there is nothing else to install, so you can undo it.
- Update shows a spinner while the update installs. It is disabled when there is nothing new, but stays available for a version you skipped, so you can still install it later.
- The Update button only shows when the update can be installed from Home Assistant. Some updates can only be read about.
- Release notes load after the dialog opens, with a spinner while they load.
The view is more-info-update in src/dialogs/more-info/controls/more-info-update.ts. The backup option is ha-more-info-update-backup in src/dialogs/more-info/components/update/. The state row at the top is state-card-update in src/state-summary/. The UpdateEntityFeature enum and helpers like updateIsInstalling are in src/data/update.ts.
